Dear PHS Parent or Guardian,
The first Student Support Friday of the 2026–27 school year will be Friday, September 11, 2026, from
8:30–11:30 a.m. Your student is receiving this information because they have been identified as needing
additional academic support or intervention.
Student Support Friday Details

Day: Friday, September 11, 2026
Location: Parma High School
Time: 8:30–11:30 a.m.
Attendance: Required for students who are assigned to attend
Transportation: Any student invited to the September Support Day will be asked to
come to the school on their own. If your student will need the bus, please let the high
school office know by Tuesday morning, 9-8-26.

This year the high school is making changes to the structure of Student Support Fridays that we wanted to
share with you prior to September 11. Student Support Fridays will have a more structured process this
year in order to ensure student accountability, as well as providing opportunities for our teachers to
collaborate on instruction.
How Student Support Friday Will Now Work
Beginning this year, students will ONLY be able to attend Student Support Fridays for the following:
-Attendance (including tardies)
-Relearning Content specified by the teacher ahead of time
-To turn in work or complete a test if they demonstrated effort during the regular school day
due date for the specific assignment/test.
Students must coordinate with teachers, by Wednesday prior to the student support Friday, to
communicate about which assignments and tests will be available that day. Rooms will be designated for
students completing homework, and rooms will be designated for students completing tests.
Targeted Reteaching
One of the new goals of Student Support Friday is to give students additional opportunities to understand
course material that may be challenging. Teachers will identify specific content that they will review or
reteach during each Student Support Friday. Students will be notified of these topics on the Wednesday
prior to the support day.
How Can Parents/Guardians Help?
Parents and guardians can help make Student Support Friday successful by:
● Reviewing your student's grades and assignments in PowerSchool.
● Helping your student identify areas where they need additional support.
● Encouraging your student to complete regular homework and classwork by the assigned due dates.
● Reviewing the reteaching topics communicated to students on Wednesday before Student Support Friday.
● Helping your student develop a plan for how they will use the three-hour support period.
● Encouraging your student to communicate with teachers in advance about assignments, reteaching
opportunities, or eligible quiz/test retakes.
● Making sure your student arrives on time and prepared to work.

What Should Students Bring?
Students should come prepared for a productive school day and bring:
● Chromebook and charger
● Backpack
● School supplies
● Any textbooks or materials they may need
● Classwork or homework they plan to work on
● A list of questions or topics they need help with
● Library Book
Students should arrive on time (arrival time for breakfast will be anytime between 8:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.)
and be prepared to use the entire support period productively.
At Parma High School, our goal is to provide students with meaningful, targeted support while helping
them take greater ownership of their academic success. We appreciate your partnership as we implement
